Kung Fu Vampire Killers Theme
Bach's mighty organ Passacaglia is the base for movie's main theme, and is referenced throughout the film. On top of the passacaglia is an uneven drum rhythm written in Finale. I like to sequence with Finale because written music is often easier to understand than graphic notation. I originally intended to sync the two pieces together so that the drums would add a new twist to the Passacaglia, but when I first dropped the passacaglia into place in Protools it seemed to fit just where I dropped it, and that's where it remains.

DinnerMusic.mov
I had intended to make more use of zither in the soundtrack, but it didn't really happen, other than on this track. And here when I put this track with the action (the dinner table scene) it was far too busy and I removed all the zither and most of the sax. This is the soundtrack CD mix that restores the zither.

Quincey'sMambo.mov
A Mambo drum loop, soul bass line and manic chromatic descending organ.

ChineseVoodoo.mov
Bo Diddly's rhythm resurfaces on the toms. The sona of Chinses funeral music I have replaced with a Tibetan horn (made from a trombone sample). Basically a collage of sounds over the drums.

UMakemyBloodRunHot.mov (Love theme from KFVK)
In the rough cut the placeholder track for the slo-mo fight was Chet Baker singing My Funny Valentine. Not wanting to pay the royalties I wrote a similar song, and gave it lots of references to blood in the lyrics.
